Brothers and Sisters of the Sherrin,
I hope all are well and enjoying life. Well only 4 more sleeps and we have the 'All Finanz Group" Queensland Country Championships. With teams from Gladstone to Cairns it is shaping up to be one of the best ever. For clarification lets go through the items and elements in the hope we answer as many questions as possible.
When: This Sunday the 30th April. Games start at 12 and will conclude at 5. We need all club Presidents / delegates at the ground by 10.30 for a briefing.
Where and How to get there: Neil French Oval which is the Tigers Ground which is situated at the first round about on Mervyn Crossman Drive off Stuart Drive. BUT DON’T COME DOWN Mervyn Crossman Drive it will be blocked off for the Grooving the Moo. Instead turn off Stuart Drive into Gartrell Drive then you will see on the right a car park turn into there and continue to the bottom gate of the Tigers ground (second one) turn right into the ground and park to the right of the gate.
Canteen: There will be canteen faculties with footy food and soft drinks available. A bar will be operational as well.
Camping: We have limited camping available on site if required. There are showers and toilets but please no fires.
After Event: The club house upstairs will be open with DJ, BBQ and full bar facilities from 5 until late so join in all the fun.
Games: It is planned for each side to have 2 games each. Each game will be played under National Masters Rules and local umpires will officiate. Games will be 20 minutes per half with 5 minutes at half time and 10 minutes between games. At this point it looks like we will have 5 sides which I will go through now.
Barbarians: We have 15 legends coming up from Gladstone who will team up with 6 brave souls from the Whitsunday's to play under the Barbarian banner. JD and Shane have been working hard to put this together so make sure you give these guys a pat on the back and support them where you can.
Mount Isa: Whitey is bringing a team in from the mining camps and I suspect some ex miners from Brisbane. They have a very long reach. These guys have the longest of road trips and deserve a drink when they get here. With a few from the Uni Old Boys too.
Cairns: Gavin and his team have been working overtime to put their side together and almost there. With Ted's help from Charters Towers and a few good men form on top of the hill I am sure a full side will be achieved wearing the Cairns colours.
Townsville: The mighty Sharks will be fielding 2 sides and will support all sides where required in true masters form.
Guys if there are any issues with numbers we can adjust on the day. For example run 16 a side. Benches will be even at all time. I have attached the game day rules for review. All players must be registered. All clubs must complete team sheets and all players must sign the team sheet. No exceptions. Ground inspections will be conducted with all delegates at the morning briefing. As usual any questions let me know and I can't tell how much everyone is looking forward to catching up with our mates from across this great state of ours. Travel safe and look forward to catching up with you.
