Not a good day at the office for the Mitcham Tigers this week as we returned home to the MCG of the East to take on the Mooroolbark Mustangs. With a cracker day weather wise the 1st XVIII had their chances but a six goal 2nd quarter by the Mustangs proved to be the difference. Zac McCubbin 5 Chris Hoegel 3 were our major goal kickers with Zac McCubbin, Gordon. McKeown, Bell, Petracca, and Glossop all named in the best.
2nd XVIII couldn’t repeat their heroics of last week with a number of changes to their team due to injury. A 3 goal to 7 second half proved the difference as the twos went down by 26 points Glanville booted 4 was named best along with Lucas, Sciortino, Tsolos, Ferlazzo, and Johnson all playing well.
BIG THANK you to the Mooroolbark trainers who assisted our trainers when Sam Beagley went down and to the Barkers players for joining us in the rooms after the game.. We look forward to our return bout in round 18.
Great also to have our junior coaches join us this week in the super box, well done to Craig Giles and Glenn Newnham for arranging and it’s easy to say "'one club" but as evident by the comedy night the other week, both our Juniors and Seniors are 100% on the same page as we continue to build a bigger, better and stronger Mitcham Football club.
Another Home game NEXT WEEK against Upper Gully and hopefully a couple of players to return in another MUST win game for us as we try to stay in touch with the top 4. #strongandbold
Reserves Coaches Report
Saturday was an opportunity to consolidate a top four position unfortunately we couldn't get our game going as required and we were once again inconsistent across 4 qtrs. With 7 changes from last week we knew that we had to start well and our 1st qtr was pretty good with pressure and voice, the second was even and there was nothing in it at halftime. The third again proved to be the difference with a 1 goal to 4 qtr to the visitors as their work rate and conversion was just too strong, the last was a battle to end up going down by 4 goals, definitely feel that was one we could've taken however we never got to our best all day. Danger was exactly that with 4 goals as him and Tom Lucas really presented well all day, Nicko down back was terrific also dealing with their big. Half way we're 6 and 3 and equal points in the 4, huge game this week to bounce back against Upper Gully who are always tough, we continue to learn each week as our young group develop and I have very confidence that we will come out more determined than ever to get a win at home. Thanks to our supporters for coming down our boys appreciate love having you all there.

Senior Coaches Report
This week we played a crucial home game against Mooroolbark with the winning team having the prize of a spot in the top 4. We knew they would come out firing and our challenge was to match their intensity early. After a slow start we were able to wrestle back the momentum and go into the quarter time break with a 7 point lead. The 2nd quarter was disappointing as we had poor 15 minute period where we conceded 4 unanswered goals meaning that at half time we faced a 14 point deficit. We started the third quarter slowly as mooroolbark kicked the first couple of goals to jump out to a handy lead, we responded and wrestled the margin back to 23 points at the last break. We challenged at times in the last quarter and were able to get within 2 goals a couple of times but disappointingly we had 3 players sent off during the quarter effectively killing our chances of mounting a comeback. Zac McCubbin was a standout all day kicking 5 goals and winning plenty of the footy around the ground. We have a crucial game this week at home against Upper Gully, we must get back on the winners list and start playing a more cohesive brand of footy. Thanks to all the supporters who came along cheer us on.
