Under 19 Coaches Report...
The Easter break out the way, we set ourselves to rebound against the previously undefeated Heathmont Jets. With a priority on the first 20 minutes we started well winning the ball out of the centre of the ground and applying some scoreboard pressure, taking a 17 point lead into the break. The second quarter was a bit more of an arm wrestle with Heathmont starting to win more ball around the ground, however to the credit of our boys our constant pressure meant we could maintain a 13 point advantage at half time. The 3rd quarter was our best for the season. To a man we lifted our intensity across the ground and piled on 5 goals to 1 to extend our lead to 38 points. To the credit of our boys the Energy and Intensity continued into the last quarter and we finished the game off with a 43 point victory. Our next challenge comes not only in the form of Mulgrave, but to ensure we now maintain the same level of Energy, Intensity and competitiveness every time we step out to play. Special shout out to Lochia Richardson who sustained a very nasty ankle injury late into the second quarter. To see him back in the rooms Saturday night is a testament to his resilience and character. Best Players: Josh Valle, Hayden McLean, Tom Kerr, Brad Heywood, Johnny Hilton, Chris O’Connor and Harry Prout.
Reserves Coach Report ....
Honour to play on such a special occasions ANZAC round and hats off to the club and all the people that put on a great day. After 2 rounds of being well below par in performance we knew there was no choice but to turn our form around and to the boys credit they did with a convincing 4-5 goal win. Heathmont won their first 2 games and you could easily see why as they moved the footy well, however our structures were executed consistently and our pressure was terrific around the contest and especially up forward. We were challenged in the last 5 mins of the 2nd half to go into the break with a 15 point lead, we continued our pressure in the 3rd and were dominant and through kicking away in the last came out with solid win our first for the year. Mitch Pavey won our ANZAC Medal with an outstanding game all round, Lou Marro booted 4 and Blake Lee was a rock down back, our mids lead by Tsolos were strong and intense all day and really our evenness across the group was the catalyst for the win. Huge thanks to our supporters and the Club for an awesome day.
Senior Coaches Report
This week we hosted Heathmont for the Anzac round clash. They were coming off a huge victory against Mulgrave so we knew we had to be on our game to compete with them.Unfortunately we weren’t up for the challenge in the 1st quarter as they were far more harder around the footy and played with a desperation that we were unwilling to match and they opened up a 5 goal lead at quarter time. Our 2nd quarter was much better as we responded to the challenge they threw at us and lifted our intensity around the ball slamming on 7 goals to 2 to take a 2 point lead into half time.he 3rd quarter was a real arm wrestle with both sides playing good hard footy and our advantage was reduced to 1 point at ¾ time.In the last quarter our pressure continued to be at a high level and we were able to string together some good passages of play to kick 6 goals to 2 and run away with a 25 point win. Jackson Glossop and Lachlan Rudd were outstanding all day in defence and Will Gordon was dominant in the ruck.
Thanks to everyone who came out to support us, we hope to see you down at Mulgrave this week
