Bloods Weekly Update
What a great round of football. The sun shone, the crowd was one of the biggest in memory and Queens Park was in a magnificent state for all to see. On top of that we won back the ANZAC Day shield from Yarra Glen – Go Bloods.
Thank you to Clare Moreton who has taken over the HJFC canteen this year. The food was great, the service friendly and your huge effort was greatly appreciated.

U9
Our first home game and didn’t the Bloods love it. Once again our defensive pressure through the middle of the ground made the job easier for our backs. A big improvement this week in our handballing meant we moved the ball quickly out of the middle and gave the forwards a chance.
Goals: Tom Handasyde 2, Wil Milton 1

U10
Great to be at our home ground, the Under 10’s played a tough game against Yarra Glen. Some masterful hard efforts from our smaller kids, the whole team going for the ball and a third of the team achieving goals. The under 9’s that have stepped up have really complimented the team dynamics. A well fought out game, well done, GO BLOODS.

U11 Red and White
Healesville Red 4 1 25
Healesville White 3 3 21
The downside of having such great numbers in the U11s and having two teams they have to play each other! The Reds and Whites fought out a fantastic battle over 4 quarters of quality football. Both sides were a credit to the HJFC.
1st quarter we got off to a slow start with our opposition getting a jump on us and keeping us scoreless. 2nd and 3rd quarter we showed much improvement and turned the game around with strong defence, great pressure and solid teamwork. Which showed on the scoreboard.4th quarter was tightly contested with great disciplined football, which kept our opponents scoreless. Well done to Bailey R on his 50th game and for being our well deserving captain for the day. Also to Bailey H who served as our vice captain. Congratulations to U11 Reds on their win in a tightly fought match.

U12 Girls
Healesville 4 8 32
Yarra Glen 8 9 57
The girls worked hard against a team that had a huge bench. The first quarter was a tight affair with the ball moving up and down the ground for most of the quarter. Our defence once again put in huge effort to restrict the scoring of Yarra Glen and the mid-field did a mountain of running, but the fresher legs of Yarra Glen started to takes it toll in the second half with Yarra Glen having a 3 goal third quarter. The girls put in a mighty effort and it is pleasing to see how well they are working as a team. The tackling and defensive work was the highlight of the day. The girls could walk off the ground knowing that they put in their best efforts, well done.
Goals: M Sikorski 2, M Harbinson, O Frith

U12
Healesville 7 5 47
Yarra Glen 2 3 15
Another strong win for Healesville. Our midfield controlled much of the game. Cam played a great game in his 50th game, breaking the lines and using the ball well. Harry and Corey (also playing game number 50), were good in and under and both racked up lots of tackles. Cody gave us a great target up forward and Max, Billy and Josh were all very good in defence, playing tight and winning their one on one contests. We made a few errors with our ball movement, turning back inside in defence a couple of times and our mids and forwards needed to be a bit more proactive with their leading and positioning when we are bringing the ball out of the backline. Lots still to work on, and bigger challenges await in the coming weeks.
