CHARLTON FC AGM.
Charlton Football Club held its 2014 Annual General Meeting at its clubrooms on Tuesday 21st October.
The AGM saw Shane Fitzpatrick accepting the nomination for incoming President and being duly appointed unopposed.
The meeting was well attended by around twenty five club members and supporters.
2013-2014 Club President Terry Fitzpatrick welcomed everyone and alongside Secretary Barry McKenzie, delivered his annual Presidents report.
Terry thanked all the players, coaches Aaron Walklate and Doug Finlay, their assistants and match committee for their efforts throughout the year which culminated in the Reserves making a Preliminary Final and the Seniors losing a Grand Final by the narrowest of margins in extra time. Special mention was made to thank Anthony Judd who stepped into the Senior coaches role mid-year while Aaron Walklate was ill in hospital.
Terry touched on the effort that many players make to travel long distances to pull on the Navy Blue jumper alongside the players who reside locally. Terry also thanked the assistant coaches, selectors, runners Wes Jenkyn and John Gretgrix. Terry also paid tribute to the trainers in Lindsay, John, Emma and Naomi for their dedicated hard work.
Mention was made by Terry of the scoreboard attendants, the Junior Football Club who provide water boys and boundary umpires, goal umpires and timekeepers.
The Ladies Auxiliary was thanked for their efforts, as were the Thursday night cooks. John Coughlan was noted for his work organising and running the bar. Special mention was made of the healthy working relationship between the football club and the netball and hockey clubs and Terry thanked these clubs for their efforts.
Terry expressed his appreciation to the sponsors of the club and thanked them for their support. Terry extended the same to all the members and supporters of the Charlton Football Club.
Finally Terry thanked the 2014 Committee, and explained that his position as President had been like a duck swimming, smooth on top and paddling like there’s no tomorrow underneath! Terry was rightly proud of his achievements as President and found the role challenging but rewarding.
He was given a large round of applause and in response, committee members thanked Terry for his efforts and praised his ability to organise, galvanise people and motivate others in his always friendly, positive manner.
Treasurer Simon Peck then delivered the clubs annual financial report. This report showed the club to have had a successful financial year, leaving the club in a sound position currently.
Following this all positions were declared vacant and the meeting was chaired by Kelvin Baird.
Shane Fitzpatrick was nominated and accepted the position of President for 2015. Shane is the games record holder for Charlton, life member and an experienced administrator and committee member.
Rod McKee was appointed as Senior Vice President.
Simon Peck was re-appointed as Treasurer for the coming year.
Martin McGeown was nominated and appointed as Secretary.
The general committee was again nominated and all current committee members were re-appointed.
The meeting was then closed and positive discussions ensued about an exciting 2015 season and another enjoyable, positive year and like all other clubs, hopefully a successful 2015 on and off the field.
