Hi Brickie,
Hope all had a fantastic xmas, new year and Australia Day weekend. We are back to reality and the project is moving quickly upon us. We were successful in our application to AFL and are to receive $27,500 of the applied $60,000 Grant. This is a great result as applications were considered for facilities all over Australia.
Thanks to multiple Best and Fairest winner Darren Boulton, current player Cameron Laing, sponsor Diamond Valley Plaster, and quite possibly the next future President "Kirko" for the purchase of bricks over xmas. Our contribution continues to grow. Currently our funding is financed thru:
- $27,500 from AFL;
- $200,000 from Local Government;
- $200,000 from State Government;
- $29,500 from the Football Club Buy-A-Brick campaign;
- The Cricket Club is to contribute thru the sale of bricks, and;
- Cr Dale Peters and the Banyule Project team are sourcing alternative opportunities for further Council funding.
The Project's estimated budget of $643,000 + GST has been broken into stages and the extent of the work will be dependant on the total funds that we have been able to obtain.
The Project's Tender Process closed on Tuesday 23 January, and we are still targeting a February start date. Banyule Council will assess a number of submissions over the next couple of weeks, including that of Billings Long Constructions.
The NFL Fixture has been released and we have organised to reverse our Round 2 fixtured game with Heidelberg FC to coincide with construction works. Our first home game will be in Round 4 against Lalor FC.
We are now at the stage where I would like you to consider what you would like engraved on the brick. Please do not hesitate to contact me and advise of your personal achievements at the club, or your wish to show that your family name cares for our facility.
