In an effort to assist the victims of the Brisbane flood the Coomera Magpies orchestrated a Flood relief appeal collecting donated goods from residents in the Coomera region.
Over 2 weekends members of the Magpies senior team ran beside utes, trucks, trailers and the Magpies bus collecting White Goods, Blankets and Beddings, clothing, furniture and food that was left out by the generous residents of Coomera.
In total 2 semi loads were collected and distributed directly to families in Brisbanes western suburbs. Some residents broke down in tears when the players came knocking and offering help.
My Liang of Ipswich said holding back tears "I cant believe this. I thought we had been forgotten. You are the first help we have had". Mr Liang had managed to save his wife and children but his house was completely washed away. The only structure left standing was his garden shed at the top of the hill, which he now shared with 2 other families.
Pictured is (bottom) Jason Sanford and Danny Anyos unloading goods at the depo (Wasp Creek Fire Brigade thanks guys for letting us use the shed!) and (Top) Damian Hofert with some ipswich locals, these are now the only toys they own after loosing everything in the floods.
