Latrobe City Energy Basketball statement of purpose is: -

 
To be recognised as the leading basketball organisation in Gippsland that promotes and develops basketball, encourages inclusion and participation, strives for high performance, promotes elite pathways and ensures players have the opportunity to play at the highest level possible.


Latrobe City Energy is an elite basketball club that provides junior and senior players the opportunity to represent our region at the highest level possible.

While mainly focused on the Latrobe Valley many of our players travel from across Gippsland, including Bairnsdale, Warragul and Leongatha to play with our teams.

Latrobe City Energy competes in two leagues;

- Victorian Junior Basketball League (VJBL), and
- Big V (senior program).

The VJBL is a graded competition with teams undergoing a strenuous grading phases between November and March before the season commences in March / April and concludes in September. The League is broken into divisions with the the highest level being Championship, followed by four divisions (League 1, 2, 3 & 4) and a regional based competition (several levels depending on numbers).

In 2012/13 we have 6 junior teams competing in the VJBL :-

Senior teams compete in the Big V which is one of the largest semi-professional basketball leagues in the world.Currently over 101 teams from 45 Victorian clubs compete in 9 divisions of men's and women's basketball.

Energy currently has 2 Big V teams competing in:

Division 1 Men, and
Division 1 Women.
