Four Centrals players made the final GDFL Interleague team for this weekend. Travis Johns, David Hall, Nathan Lovell and Craig Rosenzweig all were selected to play against the Heathcote District League at Bell Post Hill. Two others in Bendan Chugg and Brayden Smith made the final 30 but were cut from the final squad of 24 players.
We wished our players all the best as we did all the other players and we knew they would aquit themselves well and this they did running out solid winners and enable themselves to be promoted up the VCFL Campionships ladder for next year and hopefully play one of the more senior competitions.
Travis Johns played in the centre of the ground with David Hall on a wing and with Craig Rosenzweig at full forward changing with the coach. Nathan Lovell was the changing ruck and had a fair influence when he came onto the ground.
I am sure the players would have enjoyed the occassion and felt it was worthwhile being involved in interleague. It should be the start of something much larger in 2011.
A little spy tells me one of our players came to the attention of the VCFL talent scouts and may get a call soon for VCFL duties.
To those who came along to the game, thankyou for the support for our players and the GDFL.
Final Scores: GDFL 18.13 - 121 defeated Heathcote DFL 11.16 - 82
