Lions Soccer Club came into being in 1983. Lions began with 120 players but within two years the Club grew rapidly, this was largely due to the dedication, commitment and vision of our original committee members.

Lions has grown to become one of the larger clubs in the region.  We were one of 6 affiliated clubs within the local administration – Football Gympie Inc. and coming under the banner of Football Wide Bay & Football Qld. All are affiliated to the World Governing body FIFA.

In 2019 Lions became affiliated with the Sunshine Coast under the banner of Football Qld.

We as a Club are proud of the high caliber of skill shown by our teams and the successes we achieve at both a local level and the higher level competition.

This was reinforced by the large number of Lions players representing the Wide Bay Zone, where players could then have the opportunity to be selected for Queensland.

Although competitive and successful on the field Lions Football Club provides a venue where the young & not so young can come together to enjoy the participation & enjoyment of the growing sport of football.

The Club likes to maintain a policy of giving all children a fair go at playing and enjoying the game regardless of abilities. Organizations such as ours rely only on volunteers to do the work. Over the years Lions have been fortunate to have had dedicated and committed people who took positions either on the committee or as coach’s/managers to continue this policy which has helped shaped the Lions Club to what it is today.
