After looking through the State Associations season, a clear picture emerges. This team had a horror run with losing the close games and it was these close losses that shaped their season.
In seven of their losses this year, the average losing margin is just 8 points. If only half of these games went the way of the Hornets, it would have been enough to sneak them into the finals.
Now all teams have hard luck stories about close losses but many of these games came in the first 5 rounds and this made the job of playing catch up footy very difficult.
Injuries and lack of consistancy really did hurt this team and with a full pre season under their bealt in 2012, i am confident that tghe State Associatuion can continue to improve and add another dimension to our senior fotball.
It was very encouraging to see some of the under 18 players from 2010 that were not able to step up to State League football, stay with the Hornets at State Association leve in 2011. Hopefully some of the players currently in the U18 who are moving into senior football, will see the State Associaition as a oppotunity to stay at their junior club if unable to step up to Strate League.
