A special ‘thank-you’ to Surfside’s Cath Sattler for providing these interesting bits of football trivia ahead of the season’s big showdown...

-       A couple of players from each team have played together as part of the 2007 Geelong representative team in the Victorian Women's Premier League. They include Nicole Mills and Bridget Wallace from Surfside and Drina Marincic and Rachel Robertson for Barwon SC. Also Surfside’s veteran, Cath Satter, last played in a grand final for Barwon against Geelong SC in 2010.

-       Barwon’s Emma Rea and Surfside's Cath Sattler were part of the 2009 Geelong Rep team which played in the Victorian Women's Premier League.

-       Surfside's Renae Billington, who is originally from Warnambool, represented the Geelong region as a junior, during which time she travelled up from Warnambool twice a week to attend games as well as training sessions!

-       The Surfside team has a large age range; at least one player born in every decade from the sixties to the noughties! Cath Sattler is clearly the oldest with young Indiah Van Galen the baby of the team.

-       Two of Surfside's Women's team (Cath Sattler and Allana Gillbee) co-coach their Under 16 girls’ team, who also won their semi-final last Sunday as underdogs. And just like the Seniors, they were victorious with a 2-1 score line following extra time. The Under 16 girls’ Surfside team will face the Kardinia Under 16 team in this Saturday’s grand final.
