HISTORY MAKERS

PAT ROWE

Pat Rowe was an outstanding player for North Adelaide from 1960 to 1971 in what was truly a “golden era” with the Women’s District team winning Winter Premierships in 1961, 1964, 1965, 1967, 1969, 1970 and 1971!!!!!

She was Captain of several of those teams and won North Adelaide Fairest & Beast trophies in 1966 and 1968 (at least). She also won the Woolacott Medal (was renamed the Halls Medal in 1964) in 1962 as the Fairest and Most Brilliant player in the SA Women’s District competition.

Despite having her career interrupted three times for the birth of her children, she consistently represented the State of SA at National Championships for 10 years, winning 6 titles and was named captain of the side from 1965 to 1970.

She also represented Australia on many occasions including as Vice-Captain at the 1967 World Championships in Prague, before Captaining the side in 1971 at the World Championships in Brazil.

Pat was a standout in an era of unbelievable North teams, laying the foundation for many great women players to come, and truly deserves the title of History Maker.
