Darrell Jones from Local Legends Photography was nominated in the Best Action Photo category, while Cody Bench was recognised in the Character of the Game category.
The WRFL Match of the Day team consists of Kevin Hillier, Gary Turner, Peppe Cavalieri, Andrew Wilson and Cade Lucas.
The talented group of broadcasters covered all three divisions of senior football in 2017, from Round 1 to Division 1 Grand Final Day in September.
It is the second straight year the WRFL Match of the Day has been nominated in this category.
New this year was the introduction of the WRFL Insider, a show which ran between February and March.
The premise of the ‘Insider’ was to speak to all senior coaches, including a senior women’s coach, about season 2017 and what the year may promise for each respective club.
Episodes gave viewers an insight into what was happening at each club. We spoke to coaches about player movement, pre-season workloads and goals for the season ahead.
The WRFL Facebook Page was also nominated for Best Use of Online Media (Technology).
Through videos and online story telling the WRFL was able to produce 125 online episodes. This included a weekly Footy Show, which explored every aspect of the WRFL. From juniors to seniors and everything in between.
Breaking news stories, match reports on every WRFL Senior competition and feature stories on the league’s brightest stars were all features on the WRFL Facebook page.
From Daniel Kerr’s recent appointment with St Albans, announcing the Division 1, 2 and 3 Team’s of the Year to the story of Harry Stott, a youngster from Point Cook who has autism, playing in his first game of footy, the WRFL Facebook Page was a one-stop-shop for all your footy news.
Shortlisted applicants will now have their submissions evaluated again by a judging panel consisting of experts in the relevant field before a winner in each category is announced at a special luncheon at IKON Park on Friday December 8.
