THE Yarraville Seddon Eagles Under-13 team has conquered Relay for Life.
The team, Eagles Rock, was set the task of completing the Relay for Life 24-hour challenge at Albert Park at the weekend as part of their goal to give back to their community.
Eagles Rock team manager Karen Watkins said the entire team proudly completed the walk.
She said she was very proud of their achievement.
“The kids had a ball, they bonded together and they were very enthusiastic about the whole thing,” Ms Watkins said.
“It was a really great experience and something they can cherish for ever.
“I am really proud of the team.
“It was one of the most satisfying things I have ever done, it was quite surreal.”
Ms Watkins said each member of the team walked laps of the course throughout the night and took part in a range of activities and special Relay for Life ceremonies.
She said two youngsters got the chance to hold the banner in the first lap which honoured carers and survivors of cancer as well light candles.
Ms Watkins said the team raised $5614.60, with the money to go towards finding a cure for cancer.
“It is totally beyond our comprehension that we have been able to raise that money,” she said.
“We have had a lot of personal donations.
“It was a really successful journey for us.”
