Inglewood United and Stirling Lions will make their first QBE Night Series appearances this weekend as the knockout competition reaches the quarter-final stage.

Inglewood captain David Cyrus believes a solid effort in the QBE Night Series can lay the foundations for a positive league campaign.

“Our goal is to get off to a good start in the Night Series and that will set the tone for our league season,” Cyrus told inglewoodunitedfc.com.au.

“We’ve had a good pre-season.   The squad is much the same as last year and the few additions we’ve made have lifted the standard and are showing some great potential.”

This weekend’s action kicks off at E&D Litis Stadium on Saturday at 5.30pm when Floreat Athena, who beat Balcatta 3-2 in the opening round, take on top-tier newcomers Mandurah City.

Armadale, fresh from their 2-0 win over Subiaco, will take on Stirling at 7.30pm, also at E&D Litis Stadium.

Sunday’s action will take place at the Perth Plaster Board Centre Stadium where home side Inglewood United take on Sorrento at 7.30pm.

Bayswater City, who stunned Perth SC 3-0 in the opening round, will take on ECU Joondalup, who impressed in their 4-0 win over Cockburn City, in the earlier game at 5.30pm.

Winners will advance to the semi-finals with the draw to be conducted at Football West headquarters on Monday morning.
