15U & 17U MEN'S NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS - DAY 1 RECAP

15U Men

Saskatchewan 60 - Nova Scotia 72

Lindell Wigginton led all scorers with 18 points as he led Nova Scotia U15 Men’s Team over Saskatchewan, 72-60 in the opening game at the 2012 Men’s National Championships.

Nova Scotia also received secondary scoring from Gage Sabean who finished with 15 points and Jordan Reid who finished with 12 points.

In the loss, Saskatchewan was led by Connor McIntyre who scored 16 points in the game.

Alberta 70 – Newfoundland 54

Matthew Guinto scored 26 points, while Carter McIntyre notched a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds as Alberta defeated Newfoundland 70-54.

For Newfoundland, Brett Warren led the way as he scored 12 points and Lucas Downey scored 9 in the game.

Ontario 88 – Quebec 49

The defending champions Ontario won big, 88-49 over Quebec in 15U action at 2012 Men’s Nationals
Nolan Narain was the catalyst for Ontario as he shot 6-for-10 from the field as he scored 16 points and grabbed 9 rebounds.

Silvio Biabo scored a team- high 11 points for Quebec.

British Columbia 76 – Manitoba 60

British Columbia was off to a winning start at the U15 Men’s Championship after beating Manitoba 76-60.

British Columbia’s Jauquin Bennett-Boire had a very impressive performance by scoring 18 points and recording 9 rebounds in the victory.

Torrez McKoy led Manitoba in scoring with 18 points and also grabbed 5 rebounds in the game.

17U Men

Saskatchewan 86 – New Brunswick 71

Ryan Delwo opened the 17U tournament with an impressive 28 point performance to help Saskatchwan defeat New Brunswick 86-71.

Delwo wasn’t alone as Brady Mackay scored 18 point, while Atlee Simon scored 17 and recorded 7 rebounds.

In a losing effort, Erik Nissen had a very efficient game by scoring 26 points and adding 8 rebounds for New Brunswick.

Manitoba 100 – P.E.I. 66

Manitoba was able to get by with ease in their opening game against P.E.I.

Mahmoud Sesay scored a team-high 20 points for Manitoba, while Joseph Medrano chipped in with 16 and Justus Alleyn recorded 14.

P.E.I. was led by Patrick Murray’s 15 points and 8 rebounds.

Nova Scotia 75 - British Columbia 86

In a tight game, British Columbia was able to get by Nova Scotia 86-75.

Alexander Hart led the charge for British Columbia by scoring 22 points and recording 8 rebounds.

Travis Adams put his team on his back as he recorded a double-double with 31 points and 12 rebounds in the loss.

Quebec 101 – Newfoundland 56

In front of their home province, Quebec opened with a big win over Newfoundland 101-56.

Quebec’s 17U Team had stronger performances from Noah Daoust who scored 31 points and 12 rebounds, while his teammate Abdul-Aziz Atta scored 22 points and grabbed 8 rebounds.

Newfoundland’s leading scorer was Mitchell Hearn, who scored 16 points.
