Wolfpack WABL teams turned in a 14-20 record in Round 4 to move the club’s record to 76-59 on the season. 

We start with our U12 girl cohort as a loss to our Championship Girls saw them fall to 2-2 on the season. They were led by Asha McClelland’s 12 points and Imogen Young and London Franceschi chipped in 7 and 6 points respectively. Coach Mark Loxley will be looking for his team to bounce back against Cockburn Blue this week. The U12-4 Girls took their first defeat on the season and sit in a tie for 2nd place on the ladder as we move to round 5. They were spearheaded by 9 points from Lily Stefanski. U12 Wolves White notched a decisive victory over the previous 2-1 Cockburn 3s team. As expected, this young team will develop throughout the year against quality opponents with Ben Watson's direction and leadership. A balanced scoring attack saw 8 players score, led by Ava Turner’s 9 points and Aisling Fernandez’s 8 points.

The U14 girls group took some tough narrow defeats in intense games. The U14 Wolves Green team played valiantly for Jay Wakefield and saw 8 players get into the scoring column. Maya Pasic and Ella Augustin tied for 2nd in game-high scoring with 8 pts apiece. The U14 Champ Girls had another impressive showing against Cockburn as they moved to 4-0 on the season with 4 players in double figures: Grace Tomazin, Bethany Georgiu, Shae Grinceri, and Lily MacPhee. The overall record of our U14 Girls sits at 8-8 as they look continue developing in the 2023 campaign.

The U16 Champ Girls took a narrow defeat to an impressive Willetton side 47-52. Trailing by 8 entering the 4th quarter, Heath Bradley’s team made a run and won the quarter but the deficit was too much to overcome. Each of his players scored led by 8 points from Cameron Brown. The U16-3 Girls had an extraordinary 88-31 win on the weekend. Jorja Ralph and Alize Smith paced the Wolfpack with 20 points each. Lucy Corden had 19 herself for a team that shared the scoring opportunities around. The U16-3 Girls sit atop the ladder at 4-0 on the season.

In the U18 Womens competition, the U18 Champs were able to continue with their undefeated season. The Wolfpack saw three players tie with 9 points in Bridie Le Cornu, Jasmine Kirby, and Kyah Nichols. Their 52-47 victory over Willetton puts them in a tie atop the ladder with Cockburn who they will visit on the 28th May. Next week they host the Eastern Suns. 

In the U18-2s, Chloe Goldsmith put up 27 big points in a strong effort against the U18-1s of the Perth Redbacks. Shelby Holl and Jay Gates contributed 19 and 11 points respectively for coach Aaron Hirniak’s side. The U18-3s had top scorers of Ava Tomazin (21), Beatrice Yu (19), and Jaeda Conradt (11) in their victory. 

Shifting to the U12 Boys who continued with a remarkable start to the 2023 season, U14-2 as an overall group. The U12 Champ Boys were strong against a Cockburn behind 22 points from Griff Gardiner as well as Hayden Montgomery and Noah Growden with 13 and 10 points respectively. The passing of this team is a pleasure to witness. Next up, a big game with Warwick as both teams vie for ladder supremacy with undefeated records thus far. 

The U12-2 Boys also managed to move to 4-0 behind balanced scoring. Robb Hobb’s was able to coax an 80-57 win out of his group. Lewis Brown (18), Kobi Bunt (13), Lucas Mitchell (13), Kamron Makawa (9), Josh Epple (9), and Felix Vainu (9) shows the shared responsibility on this team. The U12-4 Boys won the 4th quarter 17-6 against East Perths 2ndteam en route to a 58-43 win. The win moves them into a tie for 1st place in Division 3; an inspired start to 2023 for head coach Jed Veljacich.  

The U14-2 Boys had Lachlan Emery (12), Lucas O’Lone (10), and Jordan King (10) as three players in double figures. Although they took a tough loss on the weekend, this team will continue to improve and develop under the direction of Rob Wellsteed. Even with a 1-3 record in Round 4, the overall U14 Boys group stands strong at record 10-6. 

The U16 Boys had a 2-2 record and move to 10-5 on the season. The U16-3 Boys moved to 3-1 in 2023 behind a 42-27 halftime lead. Owen Baker and Hudson Dimond had 19 and 18 respectively. Taj Jeffery and Makai Clarkson had 16 and 12 respectively. The U16-4 Boys stay undefeated with another decisive win behind 32 points from Kai Starr. U16 Champ Boys suffered a defeat despite 31 points from Evan Grinceri. The U16-2 Boys went down by 10 points after trailing by 13 after the 1st quarter. Harrison Parker would be pleased to hold the Redbacks to just 65 points for the game. His top scorers were Jett Reiss and Max Haley had 11 points each, followed by 10 by Jack Goosen. 

The U18 Men had some tough games on the weekend. The U18 Champs held tight with a top of the ladder Willetton side behind 17 points from Caleb Power, 13 for Ousseynou Watt, and 10 for Keegan Schrick. For the U18-2 Men Martin Myaundi and Oliver March served up 14 points apiece, with Oliver Beerens also in double figures with 10. The U18-4 Men cut into an 11 point halftime deficit with a 20-15 third quarter but were taken down despite 18 points from Kindness James. Josh Bell-Bourne, Brodie Duguid, and Luke Owens mustered 12, 10, and 9 respectively. 

The U20 Championship Men won each quarter against a Willetton Tigers. Jack Kingswood had a game-high 35 points on the back of 7 3-pointers. The U20-2 Men took a 3-point lead into the 4th quarter before falling 11-19 in the final frame. Harrison McGuinness led all scorers with 17, followed by Jaemon Yam and Oli Millfors pouring in 12 each. Ewan Butler and Nima Ghesemi came through with 11 and 8 respectively. 

The D-League Men took their first defeat of the year on the road in Kalgoorlie. They were buoyed by Ben Geel’s 27 points and Tariq Muturi had 22 but it wasn’t enough to remain undefeated. The team will look forward to what is sure to be an epic tilt against Warwick on the 21st May. The D-League Women were on a bye as both teams the Men’s and Women’s D-League teams sit atop the ladder.
