The Chambers Franklyn City of Joondalup Wolves are excited to announce current South Sudanese National team player and former Wildcat, Mathiang Muo for the 2023 NBL1 West season.

Mathiang Muo is a next level scorer who brings valuable playing experience to the Wolfpack; from his years in the NBL playing for the Wildcats to his international career representing his home country of South Sudan in competitions such as the upcoming FIBA World Cup.

In the 2022 NBL1 West season, Mathiang played a key role for the Geraldton Buccaneers scoring an impressive 23 points per game and leading the team the NBL1 West finals against the Rockingham Flames. Mathiang is a next level talent who had season highs of 44 points against the Redbacks and 14 rebounds against the Senators. Mathiang is a player who has a proven record of success, and we look forward seeing him in green this season with the Wolfpack!

This is what Mathiang had to say about his signing:

“I have been part of the NBL1 West for the last couple of years and I love the competitive spirit out here. The sense of community has always been evident within the Joondalup Wolves and I’m glad to have the opportunity to be a part of it. I am looking forward to running with the Wolfpack in this season!”

This is what Head Coach David Morrell had to say about Mathiang’s signing:

“We are thrilled about the opportunity to add Mathiang to the group. Last year he was in the conversation with only a handful of others for being the best shooter in the league. He’s not just a shooter by any means and speaking as a coach who had a game-plan against him last year, he was a challenge to try and stop. He’s had a storied career across the NBL, NBL1 and on the international stage representing South Sudan.

He’s 6’6 and can score in a variety of ways; his experience, leadership and skill level can help push any team to new heights. It’s going to be really exciting to work with a player of his caliber and to watch all the big plays he will make wearing green this year!

Mathiang joins teammates CJ Turnage, Jonathan Wade, Bryan Michaels, Gabe Chadinha, Brody England, Jordan Wellsteed, Ben Geel, Archie Hall, Jermaine Malie, Eddie Maslic, Luca O’Brien, Ioannis Dimakolopoulos and Quintin Dove for the 2023 NBL1 season.

You can watch Mathiang Muo and the Wolfpack play live with a Wolfpack season membership. To find out more, visit bit.ly/Wolves2023
