The Chambers Franklyn City of Joondalup Wolves are excited to announce the signing of NBL1 West Men’s All Star 5 member and Wolves MVP CJ Turnage for the 2023 season.

In 2022, his first season with the Wolves CJ averaged 19.9ppg and 7.1 rpg shooting at 46% from the field. CJ was 10th in the league in scoring and 18th in rebounding.

CJ proved he was one of the best players in the league and time after time came up with the big shots the Wolves needed to get the win. The rejuvenated Wolves made a deep playoff run and CJ played a big part in getting the Wolves back to the top few teams in the league.

Known for his scoring, in 2022 CJ had a season high of 40 points against Cockburn and backed it up with 34 against the Redbacks. Interestingly in every game that CJ dunked the ball, the Wolves won; So, Wolves fans will be looking for plenty of high-flying action from CJ this coming season.

NBL1 Men’s Head Coach David Morrell had this to say about signing CJ.

“We are thrilled to have CJ back for a second season. He proved his worth in this league last year as an All-NBL1 West First Team Selection and we think we can keep building and he can have an even better year this year. Last year he didn’t really hit his stride until a month or two in. This off-season he has been working very hard and hit the ground running straight away from round 1.

CJ is a unique player with his versatility. Last year he played some point guard for us and played some centre for us. That’s really rare. He is a combination of high IQ playmaking and scoring, and he is a great teammate. We are excited to have him back and see if we can take that next step forward this year”.

When asked about signing with the Wolves CJ said.

“I re-signed with the Wolves because I loved my first year playing with the Wolfpack. I love my teammates, coaches and Andrew our CEO has been great to me. It was an awesome experience playing at HBF in front of our amazing fans. I’m looking forward to coming back next season even better”

CJ joins Jonathan Wade who last year signed a two-year contract, as the first two players signed for 2023.
