Phillips Joins the Pack

The Chambers Franklyn City of Joondalup Wolves are excited to announce the signing of Kiara Phillips for the 2022 NBL1 West season.

The 5’11” guard played 13 years of club basketball in Victoria before her talent lead her to America. While in America, Kiara played Junior College and ended her college career playing for the Norfolk State University Spartans. In 2021 Kiara was set to play with the Dandenong Rangers in the NBL1 South before a pre-season injury interrupted her plans. Kiara is now eager to get back on the court in 2022.

“Returning to play professional basketball back in Australia this year is both exciting and such a blessing,” Kiara told the Wolfpack. “I instantly knew that signing with Joondalup Wolves was the right move. What I love most about the Wolves is their winning culture. I’ve been told it’s one of the best atmospheres to play in and it shows on film. On and off the floor the fans shower their players with love and support - It was a no brainer I wanted to be a part of the Wolfpack Family!

Falling just short in the grand final last year a Championship is up for grabs this year. I am excited to work with Coach Marcus and develop as a player. But most importantly, I can’t wait to work with a hardworking bunch of girls this season. Let’s get this chip! Go Wolfpack!"

New NBL1 Women’s Head Coach Marcus Wong had this to say about the signing of Kiara.

“I am really excited to have Kiara join us this season having coached against her throughout her junior basketball career. She has been working really hard to make sure she is back at her best after an achilles injury derailed her playing campaign last season. We know that Kiara can impact the game at both ends of the floor through the 1-3 positions and I think she will surprise a few people in the league this year. I know she is busting to get out on the floor, meet her teammates and get to work.”

Kiara will be arriving from Melbourne after the opening of WA’s borders on March 3. She will be joining the Pack along with her partner - men’s NBL1 American import, Jonathan Wade. We welcome her to the Wolfpack family with open arms!
