A MESSAGE FROM WANNEROO BASKETBALL ASSOCIATION - CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19)
(2 JULY 2021)

The WBA would like to thank all members for their patience and understanding during the latest lockdown. We understand there are those who would like us to make an early call and cancel rounds and there are others who want us to wait as long as possible to give our players every chance of playing. From day one of COVID in 2020 we have always chosen the path that it is our responsibility to give our members every possible chance of playing and that we would always wait as long as possible to allow that to happen. Not playing basketball is the last thing we want, it is the core function of our association.

Unfortunately, as per the State Government announcement today, indoor community sport CANNOT go ahead and a 20-person capacity per venue is in place.

Due to these restrictions, all basketball activity is suspended until 12.01am Tuesday the 6th of July 2021. This applies to all trainings, games, programs etc. in all venues.

We will endeavour to reschedule games where possible and will discuss with club presidents and senior team delegates this possibility.

The WBA will await further advise from BWA in relation to the rescheduling or cancellation of WABL and NBL1 games and what that means for those affected.

We will work with Venues West, BWA and all relevant stakeholders to map out what the return to basketball will be post Tuesday and provide our members with an update as soon as possible.

We understand this is frustrating and we thank you for your patience and understanding.

We will continue to provide information as it comes to hand.

Comment Guidelines: The SportsTG Network is made up of players, families and passionate sports followers like you who have a strong opinion about sport. That's great - we want you to have your say and share your thoughts with the world. However, we have a few rules that you must follow to keep it fun for all. Please don't be rude, abusive, swear or vilify others. Apart from some pretty serious sport sanctions, we also can ban you and report you if things get out of hand. So play fair and have fun, and thanks for your contribution.
