The Joondalup Wolves are excited to announce the re-signing of Perth Lynx Kayla Steindl for the 2021 NBL1 West season.

Kayla started her professional basketball career by being selected 19th overall pick for the 2012 WNBA draft to Minnesota Lynx. During Kayla’s time in the United States, she was selected to represent team USA at the 2011 Pan American Games in Mexico. When Kayla moved to Australia, she played for the Townsville Fire, Adelaide Lightning and Frankston Blues.

Moving to Perth in 2017, Kayla signed with the WNBL Perth Lynx. She signed on further with the Perth Lynx in 2018 and 2020. Kayla signed with the Joondalup Wolves to play the 2019 season in the SBL and the 2020 season in the West Coast Classic. Kayla helped the Wolves Women’s team win the 2020 West Coast Classic Championship and Kayla took home the Grand Final MVP.

Kayla spoke to the Joondalup Wolves on her thoughts about re-signing for 2021.

“I am very excited to be back with the Wolfpack for 2021 as we continue to build on our success from last season. I think it’s a testament to Nixy’s program as he gets players to stick around year after year. The team is full of great people, the coaching staff are like family to me now and the club is very professional. It was an easy choice to make!”

Joondalup Wolves Women’s Head Coach Charles Nix shared his thoughts on Kayla re-signing for NBL1 West.

We are all super excited to have Kayla back in green for the 2021 season. She’s an outstanding person on and off court and has shown in her time at the club that she is an out and out star in this league. After re-joining the Lynx for the WNBL season just gone I feel that Kayla will again be a force to be reckoned with in the new NBL1. I’m looking forward to getting back to work with her and achieving some special things.

Kayla is the first signed for the Wolves Women’s 2021 roster.
