The Joondalup Wolves are excited to announce the re-signing of former Perth Wildcat Lochlan Cummings for the 2021 NBL1 West season.

The 6’2” guard started his basketball career by attending college in the United States. He later signed on in 2017 and 2018 to play for the Perth Wildcats. During the 2018-2019 season he also went over to New Zealand to play for the Auckland Huskies. Prior to COVID Lochlan was scheduled to go to Bendigo to play in the NBL1 South league. In 2020 he joined the Wolves to play in the West Coast Classic and helped the men’s team to the semi-finals.

Lochlan spoke to the Joondalup Wolves about re-signing for the NBL1 West season and joining the NBL1 West.

“I really enjoyed it here last season, it’s a great group. To be able to get the chance to build on that this season, I’m looking forward to it.  I’m excited, it’s great news for the league. The exposure and media coverage brings another level of professionalism.”

Joondalup Wolves CEO and men’s Head Coach Andrew Summerville shared his thoughts about signing Lochlan.

“This signing is huge for us. We were lucky to get Lochy last year as he was scheduled to go to Bendigo to play NBL1 and was about to leave a few days before COVID hit. I love coaching Lochy as he takes feedback really well and is always looking to improve his game. Sometimes guys who have been on NBL rosters and played at high levels think they don’t have to work hard, but Loch never misses a practice and is constantly seeking improvement. I give him free reign out there and trust him to do what he does and 99% of the time he delivers. He was top 5 in the league in scoring and assists for most of the season and that doesn’t happen unless you can really play. I remember some games this year where he would go on a rampage for 3 or 4 minutes and put on 10 or 12 points on the back of some huge shots. He is really good with the younger guys too and this off season has been working with some of our up-and-coming players offering advice and feedback.”

“Lochy will only flourish even more once we put some more pieces into the line-up in 2021 and I can’t wait to sit back on game nights and watch.” Added Summerville.

Lochlan is the first signed for the Wolves men’s 2021 roster.
