Division 1 Grand Final | Preview

It's Division 1 Grand Final week and your Joondalup Wolves Division 1 Men's team have made the Grand Final against the Lakeside Lightning, and are looking to go back-to-back, following on from their amazing come from behind victory last year against the Kalamunda Eastern Suns.

The Wolves Division 1 team features some already established stars, alongside a core group of key contributors who have developed their games significantly over the past couple of seasons.

The firepower at Head Coach Ben McFARLANE's disposal is tantalising, and he looks forward to seeing how his squad will again perform on the big stage.

From a statistical perspective, Joel OFFEREINS leads the league in made 2's (112) and 3rd on overall game pts (287) with Kye CHAMBERLAIN 3rd (46) in made 3's and 7th in game pts (239).

Both SBL contracted players are certain to be in the All-Star frame, having dominated at this level all season.

They are backed up by the leadership and scoring power of Lachlan STRELEIN and the organisational skills and poise of seasoned Point Guard and Wolfpack fan favourite Sam CURTIS.

The team went from a wobbly 2-4 record at the start of the year to finish the regular season on an 8-0 barnstorming run into the playoffs, along the journey out scoring their rivals 734-499 (147.09%) to claim outright 2nd position on the ladder.

With the addition of the class and shooting prowess of Bailey BASSO and Mitch McKENNA and the inside presence of Jacob ALEXANDER and Oliver SPITTELER, the Wolves roster is well rounded and has strength and experience across the floor - great positional depth and balance.

It's sure to be a tightly contested game, with both teams looking to finalise their 2019 body of work with a banner for their respective clubs.

Editors note -

Keep an eye out for young gun and backup Point Guard, Luca O'BRIEN. Recognised as one of the most talented Wolves juniors and a regular feature in State pathways programs. Likes the big stage and has all the tricks to contribute significantly.

Let's get a HUGE Wolves fan contingent to Bendat Basketball Centre this Sunday to cheer home a Championship.

It offers a fantastic glimpse into the bright Men's athletic future at Wolfpack Basketball.
