Pirini Chooses the Pack

The
Chambers Franklyn Joondalup City Wolves are proud to announce and welcome a further, high-class addition to the club, signing former Australian junior and current Adelaide Lightning athlete Mikayla Pirini to the 2019 Wolves Women’s roster.

The 22-year-old Pirini is well-known to the WA Basketball community, having established herself as an elite junior who has transitioned to very strong and consistent senior performances, highlighted by placing 13th overall in the 2018 SBL MVP award as the Perth Redbacks 2nd highest place getter, behind Perth Lynx star Kayla Steindl.

Having spent time in the Waves/Lynx and Lightning WNBL programs, Pirini is a star on the rise who has had great exposure to high-performance settings, and this was recognised as an important asset to the Wolfpack and their improvement aspirations for 2019.

Wolves WSBL Head Coach Charles Nix reunites with his star Point Guard at their new home at the Wolves, with the successful union between player and coach set to continue.

“I couldn’t be more thrilled with Mikayla committing to the Wolfpack for season 2019, she is a quality person on and off court and will help us tremendously with her play and the standards she sets culturally” Nix said.

“Pirini was a key target for us in our recruiting plan, I’m looking forward to working with her again and seeing her continue to develop what is already an elite skill set”.

“This is another tick in the box what is looking to be an exciting time to be a part of the Wolfpack” Nix concluded.
