SATURDAY NIGHT VS. SOUTH WEST SLAMMERS

The Lady Wolfpack scored a much-needed win ending a three-game losing slide to beat the Slammers by nine points, 66-57 at Eaton Recreation Centre.

Nikita MARTIN top-scored for the Wolves with 15 points to go with six rebounds while Chelsea BELCHER added 12 points off the bench.

Kelli HAYWARD had a good night for Joondalup too with 10 points and four rebounds while nailing two three-pointers.

Klara WISCHER scored just nine points but did have 13 rebounds and six assists. Shanice SWAIN scored eight points and Shani AMOS seven to go with six rebounds.

 

SUNDAY VS. KALAMUNDA EASTERN SUNS

The Joondalup City Wolves steadied their ship with a second win for the weekend in the Women’s SBL downing the Kalamunda Eastern Suns 78-52 at Joondalup Basketball Stadium on Sunday.

Both the Lady Wolfpack and Eastern Suns were coming off victories on Saturday night coming into the clash at Joondalup on Sunday. The Wolves had beaten the Slammers by nine points and the Suns by 41 over the Flames setting up a fascinating contest.

The Wolves came into the round on the back of three straight losses, but the two wins for the weekend steady them inside the top eight at 7-8. The Suns missed a chance to string momentum together remaining outside the eight at 4-12.

It was a tight first half with Joondalup only leading by three points at quarter-time and by six at half-time. But the home team pulled away after the break with 39 points to 19 in the second half for the emphatic 26-point win.

Nikita MARTIN was the star of the afternoon for the Lady Wolfpack finishing with 23 points, six rebounds, four assists and four blocked shots. She shot 10-of-18 from the field.

Chelsea BELCHER added 12 points and four steals off the bench for the Wolves while hitting 2-of-4 from three-point range.

Shanice SWAIN also had 11 points, six boards and four assists on 3-of-6 shooting from downtown.

Klara WISCHER contributed 10 points, five rebounds and five steals with Ellyce IRONMONGER finishing with four points, nine boards, six assists and two blocked shots.

Kelli HAYWARD also contributed eight points and four steals for the Wolfpack with Shani AMOS adding eight points, nine assists, six rebounds and three steals.
