Belcher's Breakout Performance Recognised

THE week one Women’s SBL Player of the Week has been awarded to Chelsea Belcher of the Sixty 30 Joondalup City Wolves.

Wolfpack youngster Chelsea Belcher was predicted by many to have a breakout year in 2017 and if her round one performance was anything to go by, Wolves fans are in for a treat.

The Wolves opened their season with a nail-biting 73 to 71 win over the Cockburn Cougars at Joondalup Basketball Stadium on Saturday night.

Belcher was ultra-impressive for the home side with a game high 29 points, 8 rebounds and 2 steals with just one turnover in 36 minutes of court time guiding the Wolves to the win.

If the younger Wolfpack members continue to step up and support Amos, Wischer, Ironmonger and Martin who are legitimate stars of the WSBL then the Wolves are certainly looking like the team to beat this season.

The Wolves women now get a week off which no doubt Coach Friday will be using the time to prepare the team for the highly-anticipated round three clash with the Rockingham Flames.
