The Merriwa Tavern & Bistro Joondalup City Wolves WSBL team put together a complete performance on Friday evening, beating upcoming Quarter Final opponent the Cockburn Cougars by 19pts on the road to record their 19th victory for the season.

Finishing the regular season on top of the standings with an outstanding 19-3 record, the Lady Wolves provided some genuine highlights throughout the game, including some feats of individual brilliance that shone within their team-first winning formula.

The league's now indisputable most improved athlete, Amy KIDNER, was offensively dominant, shooting a game high 30pts against an import led Cougars defense. KIDNER's confidence at the rack when she's up and going is unstoppable, and has been a significant reason for the Lady Wolves all-conquering season.

In another piece of individual brilliance, Ellyce IRONMONGER snatched an enormous 21reb, with 13 of those from the defensive bucket, as she asserted her physicality on the game. Her size and experience proved impossible to match as she grabbed anything and everything off the hoop, feeding the prime ball handlers in Shani AMOS and little sister Abbie IRONMONGER, who controlled the game tempo all evening.

On the eve of a monumental Lady Wolves final series, it was pleasing to see modest but ultimately important bench minutes placed into the likes of Shanice SWAIN, Briana CHAMBERS and Cameron FLYNN. Whilst rookies in this star laden roster, their upside is great and their futures are as long as they are bright.

Whilst there is much Basketball to come and some difficult wins required, Coaches Craig FRIDAY, Stu IRVING and Michelle SWAIN, along with Team Manager Narelle ATKIN, are all acknowledged for guiding this newly formed roster through a long and arduous season to the very top of the WSBL standings.

The Lady Wolves hunger for the ultimate success has never been greater nor has their determination been fiercer.
