Wolves Amass 150pt Margin

In a further statement to the league, the Merriwa Tavern & Bistro Joondalup City Wolves had four big wins over the weekend, achieving a 100% win-rate on what was their 3rd of 4 tricky double-header weeks in a row.

Your Wolves won by a combined 150pts across all four games, illustrating their offensive prowess and potency, along with a tight defensive game that limits key opposition firepower.

The Lady Wolves were the first to salute on Friday evening with a 26pt victory over the talented Kalamunda. Nikita MARTIN had a game high 23pts, finding her dangerous range inside the arc. 

Young gun Chelsea BELCHER had her best game for the season, scoring at a rate quicker than a point per minute, adding 16pts in just 13 minutes on the floor, in an offensive display that has Wolfpack fans incredibly excited about her future.

On Sunday afternoon, in a game-day billed as 'Past Players' Round in honour of the dual 1986 Wolves Championship teams, the Lady Wolves feasted on a vulnerable prey in the Eagles.

The game offered Coach FRIDAY the ability to rotate his complete roster through quality minutes, allowing the full bench to find touch and poise at the level, in an ominous sign for the competition. 

Wolves topliners Amy KIDNER and Klara WISCHER shared game-high scoring honours with 20pts each, also snatching 6 rebounds each for the game.

Ellyce IRONMONGER played a dominant game, putting together a neat double-double with 17pts and 10 rebounds.

The Lady Wolves maintain WSBL top standing with a 15-2 season tally.


On Friday evening the Wolves Men inflicted a heavy defeat on the hapless Eastern Suns, ascending the hill to play, and descending it in possession of a 68pt victory. 

Under the guidance of stand-in Coach Doug GATES, the Wolves played disciplined and clinical Basketball, with Rob HUNTINGTON shooting 31pts (11/12 2FG) as his hot offensive form continues.

The league's best big man, Kevin DAVIS, added 22pts, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and fan favourite Ngor MANYANG contributed 5pts and 5 rebounds as his confidence at the level continues to grow.

On Saturday evening the Wolves Men welcomed a talented Eagles roster to Joondalup Stadium, featuring Tom JERVIS, Sunday DECH and Rhys VAGUE as premium starters. 

The game proved an even Wolves performance, with contributions across the board from a mix of starters and bench athletes. Trian ILIADIS put up a game high 17pts, which included 4 assists.

Joel QUESTEL played a hand on several big plays, bringing the Wolfpack crowd to their feet with one particular baseline play, whilst adding 11pts of his own.

In his 50th appearance for the Wolves, Kevin DAVIS had 7 rebounds and added a modest but highly entertaining 11pts.

Stand-in coach Doug GATES had a weekend to remember, and now hands the reigns back to Messrs ETTRIDGE and BRENNAN this week with a tidy 100% win rate and some rich SBL coaching experience.

The Wolves Men remain second on the MSBL standings with a 17-4 season tally.  

Make Joondalup Stadium your 'destination of choice' this Friday evening as the Wolves take on the Willetton Tigers, from 6.30pm.
