Wolves Women Win as Men Split the Difference

The Merriwa Tavern & Bistro Joondalup City Wolves had the shortest journey of their 2016 'Away' fixture on Friday evening when they travelled to Warwick Stadium to tackle the Stirling Senators.

The experience was a mixed bag for the Wolves, with the Women winning a game they should have won, a good result, and then Men losing a game they should have won, a disappointing result.

In the Women's game, the Wolves were too dominant for their opposition from down the Highway, with Klara WISCHER shooting 23pts, along with 9 rebounds and 4 steals.

KIDNER, AMOS and MARTIN also contributed, adding a collective 31 points to the scoreboard, setting up and executing numerous offensive plays and tireless defensive work.

The Lady Wolves rookie brigade of BELCHER, FLYNN, CHAMBERS and SWAIN had limited minutes, but the future continues to look incredibly bright with the more Basketball that these four Women play.

Wolves 76 defeated Senators 58

The Lady Wolves continue to hold top spot on the standings, with a season tally of 13-2.

Following a surprise loss against the Senators on Friday evening in Trian ILIADIS' 100th game (he shot the lights out with 33pts), a loss attributed to a very poor first half by Wolves standards, the MSBL Wolves bounced back into devastating form against the Goldfields Giants on Saturday evening.

Continuing his offensive purple patch, Rob HUNTINGTON shot a game high 23pts, which included 4/5 from the perimeter.

Kevin DAVIS had 22pts, and a game high 11 rebounds. One of Kev's several slam dunks for the night has been captured by the notable talents of Wolves SBL Photography partner Serene-Elise Photography - a must see!

Fresh from his inaugural (and very successful) A Stitch In Time charity dinner, Greg HIRE added 10 rebounds and 17pts and the statesman of the group, Damian MATACZ, executed his off the bench role masterfully, adding a classy 15pts and 7 rebounds.

Wolves 135 defeated Giants 98

The Wolves remain in second place on the standings, with a season tally of 15-4.
