SBL Wolves Maul the Hawks

The Merriwa Tavern & Bistro Joondalup City Wolves further asserted their dominance on the 2016 season on Sunday with two convincing victories against the Perry Lakes Hawks, cementing their positions as top of the standings in both competitions.

In the Women's game, an increasingly polished Wolves unit started the game a little sluggish but quickly gained the ascendancy over a Hawks outfit that included some big SBL names. Well led by the offensive exploits of Amy KIDNER, who amassed a game-high 23pts in her 25mins, the Lady Wolves 74% at the line was impressive and made them that extra bit dangerous when sent to the stripe.

Klara WISCHER was her busy self, shooting 19pts and leading all-comers in rebounds, with a total of 12 snatched at both ends.

Suiting up in her 100th Wolves game, Nikita-Lee MARTIN shot 15pts, and added 2 blocked shots (in succession) to her milestone game numbers.

In the Men's game, the Hawks were intent on playing a physical brand of Basketball, often relished by the Wolves, especially inside beasts like Greg HIRE and Robbie HUNTINGTON.

Import Kevin DAVIS continued his run of form, with a game-high 32pts and a commanding 14reb. He was assisted by Greg HIRE who shot 22pts and snatched 7rebs, winning a great dual with the Hawks prime mover Ben PURSER.

Ball mover Joel QUESTEL hit two big 3's at decisive moments of the game, whilst adding 4 assists and setting up important plays at crucial times.
