Reds hit hard

Shepparton crunched Cobram with six second-half goals on Sunday as the Reds maintained second spot on the men's division one ladder with a 7-0 win.

Stuart Vance's return from suspension was marked with an emphatic five-goal haul, while Andy Ingham and Sam Smith were the other scorers.

The win means Shepparton stays within a point of Cobram Victory in second place on the ladder with 33 points to Victory's 34.

The Reds also opened an eight-point gap from third-placed Shepparton South on 25 and an 11-point gap from Shepparton United on 22.

Foot of fortune

Samantha McIntosh continued her scoring run in the women's North Eastern Soccer League with the match-winning goal as Shepparton defeated Cobram 1-0 on Sunday.

McIntosh's second-half strike gave Shepparton's depleted team a two-from-two win record with its regular coach Steve Hawkes overseas.

Shepparton claimed Cobram's third place on the ladder with the win, moving to 24 points to Cobram's 23.

The Tigers remain safely entrenched in the top four, nine points clear of Cobram Victory on 14.

In the weekend's other match, Shepparton South won its fourth game of the season with a 2-0 victory against Kyabram.

Maddy McGuffie and Chelsea Clarke scored South's goals as the Southerners moved to 13 points in seventh place, behind Numurkah by 19 goals difference and one point behind Cobram Victory.

On the bench

Cobram midfielder Dhiya Al-Mugotir has had one match added to his automatic one-game suspension for being sent off against Tatura in round 11.

Al-Mugotir's automatic ban meant missing Cobram's match against Shepparton on Sunday, while the extra game will mean he misses Cobram's third town derby of the season against Cobram Victory in round 15.

Tatura's Adrian Corbo will miss next weekend's match against Shepparton United after accumulating three yellow cards, while United's Bruce Hogg picked up his third yellow on Sunday and will also sit out.

United's Jean-Luc Giuca and Cobram Victory's Stefan Diaco both served one-match suspensions for three yellow cards yesterday.
