GEELONG REGION WEEKLY CLUB CORNER

Vol 1. No. 5 (Wednesday Nov 22, 2017)

What’s happening at your Geelong Region football club....?

FFV GEELONG/GEELONG REGION FOOTBALL COMMITTEE (GRFC)

- AS PART of the historic visit to Geelong by the Australian Women’s Football team the Matildas, this coming weekend, a very special Girls only ALDI MiniRoos Kick-Off Program will be held on Saturday morning at Deakin University in Waurn Ponds.

Registrations will commence at 8:30am, which will then be immediately followed by the participants joining in small-sided games on the pristine synthetic pitches which form part of the multi-million dollar Deakin University Sports Precinct.

The morning’s program will also involve some skills sessions and specialised drills.

In addition to the ALDI MiniRoos Kick-Off program, there will be some inflatable shooting targets that will also provide the kids with loads of entertainment.

Immediately following the conclusion of the program at 11:30pm, a selection of Matildas will be in attendance to sign autographs and have their photo taken with the lucky MiniRoos program attendees.

This is an incredible opportunity for any girls of MiniRoos age (6-11 years) - either those that were registered to play last year or are thinking about taking up the sport in 2018 – to be part of an incredible experience, as well as meet a selection of Australia’s best female Senior players ahead of the Matildas’ big clash with China at Geelong’s GMHBA Stadium on Sunday (kick-off at 4:30pm).

There is NO COST for any young girls to be involved.

The ALDI MiniRoos Kick-Off Program (Girls Only) is aimed at girls ages 4-11. This will be an opportunity for the girls to enjoy a 60 minute session, develop new skills, create new friendships and have a heap of fun! To sign up, simply click on the following link...

In 2018, two of North Geelong’s junior girl’s sides finished in the finals, with the Under 12s taking out the premiership, with several players taking out end-of-season honours in Golden Boot and League Best and Fairest awards.

With some aspiring juniors coming through, they will need more players to join them, as the club re-establishes its Senior Women’s side to participate in the local Geelong competition.
