VCL fixtures released
The draw for 2012 Victorian Champions League has been released on the fixtures page of all VCL club websites.
With kick-off less than a month away, this year’s revamped competition has had a number of changes.
The introduction of two new teams, Southern Cross Strikers and Greater Geelong Galaxy in place of the Wimmera South Coast Eagles, has seen the number of zones increase to thirteen, while two metro gala rounds in addition to four regional gala rounds means the league has been shortened to nine weeks of competition.
The regional galas will be held in La Trobe, Shepparton, Bendigo and Wangaratta this season with the two metro gala rounds ensuring that all teams still play each other twice despite the shorter season length.
Round One kicks-off on Sunday 21 October with the season concluding at the end of Round Nine on Sunday 16 December.
