Western Warriors Topples BNE Oilers

In the season opener, the defending senior champs, BNE Oilers, were handed their first loss of the season by Western Warriors.  At the end of the first quarter, Western Warriors were leading 18 - 9, after which they extended the lead to 11 points at the half, 33 - 22.  The defending Senior Champs, BNE Oilers, returned with most of their players from last year's championship team, while adding "Superman" Acosta to solidify their internal presence in the paint, while the acquisition of point guard phenom, Ivan "Stainless" Flowers is their new commander over the pil.  At the end of the third quarter, the deficit was still 9, as Western Warriors were dominating defensive rebounding, limiting BNE to only 1 shot a possession.  However, in the fourth quarter, BNE Oilers started to hit some three-pointers, going on a 7 - 0 run, and closing the gap to 2 points with 1 minute remaining in the game.  At the end of regulation, the score was tied at 59, heading into overtime.  In OT, Western Warriors were able to hold on to the lead, claiming their first W of the season, 73 - 71.  Western Warriors were lead by Emerson "Emo" King who netted the game high 27 points and had 4 steals, while Ivan Flowers sank 14 points, had 4 steals to go with 2 assists.  Keith "Superman" Acosta finished the game with 18 points, 17 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals, along with a whopping efficiency rating of 35.

In the losing effort, BNE Oilers were lead by Dorian "Cheezy" Jones who scored 24 points and yanked 9 boards, while Mark "Deisel" Wagner tallied a double double with 20 points and 11 rebounds, while getting 3 steals and 2 assists, while Christian Rodriguez netted 16 points. 

Western Warriors won the battle in the paint, outscoring BNE 46 - 36, while narrowing edging them on the glass, 51 - 49.  Western Warriors also scored 16 second chance points, while BNE was only able to muster 4 second points.
