V8 Supercar young gun, Tony D’Alberto set the early pace at Bathurst riding his bike around the legendary Mt. Panorama circuit to raise awareness for arrhythmia and Paceline.
Arrhythmia is a condition where there is abnormal electrical activity in the heart resulting in an irregular heartbeat. Most arrhythmias are harmless and can be easily managed, but some are life threatening.
Paceline is a new annual bike ride, set up to raise awareness and funding for research into the causes of arrhythmias and to make reliable information available to patients and their families. Paceline was set up by Steve Quinn, who has an arrhythmia condition, who will be riding 1030 km’s from Melbourne to Sydney with a small team of friends from November 14 – 21.
“The Paceline ride is a great event for a great cause. I would love to ride with the team from Melbourne to Sydney, however, we are still racing and will be in Western Australia when the ride happens,” D’Alberto said.
To support the cause, Tony D’Albeto the driver of the #55 Bottle – O Commodore completed 5 laps on his bike of the famed 6.2 km circuit to warm up for the big race.
“I thought with the 31 km’s on the bike, plus the 1,000 km’s drive around Bathurst on Sunday, I could go one km more than the Paceline team,” joked D’Alberto.
The Bathurst 1000 on Sunday proved to be very successful, with the Bottle – O team finishing in a strong 10th position.
Tony D’Alberto encourages all V8 Supercar fans to visit the Paceline website, www.paceline.com.au, to find out has more information on arrhythmias, the Paceline ride and how to make a donation.
