Round 5 - Season 1, 2020

PREMIER LEAGUE - Round 5

'A Knight In Shining Armour'

Blue Devils returned to the winner's list with a strong 18-point victory against White Devils.

Young gun Ben Knight showed a big sample size of his capabilities in a comp that is not far off QSL level.

Knight dominated with 26 points in the Blue boys' 65-47 win.

He had help from veteran brothers Tarron Green (14 points) and Daniel Geen with 13.

For the White side, Kurtis Bolck was impressive where he shot four triples among his 23 points and Stephen Gill shot 10.

A last-gasp Chris Tucker basket saved his Red Devils team a 50-50 draw moments after PCPs Jake Gudgeon landed a triple to put his team 50-48 ahead with 37 seconds left.

But Tucker's experience came through where he was in the right place at the right time.

PCPs Carl Lontoc was best-on-court with 29 points (four triples) and Red Devils' Nic Towner carried on his brilliant 29-point game for Air Ballers in the Division 1 Men's competition a night earlier, with 15 that had three from the 'land of promise'.

DIVISION ONE MEN - Round 5

'All Rhodes Lead To A Draw'

Lions Fury was down and out, 15 points down with 10 minutes to play against reigning premiers Devolds.

The never-say-die attitude of young cubs Cooper Rhodes and Owen Gardiner shone through while the others wilted as the Fury salvaged a draw - 57-57.

Rhodes was MVP with 20 while Gardiner was big in the final quarter with 16 points.

Their fathers Cameron and Tom were pretty handy too while Jade Hampson had big moments with his hustle and smarts.

For Devolds, Matt Harris was strong on the boards and youngster Albert Maunga (14 points) impressed.

Air Ballers went to 5-0 and inflicted Wolves' first loss as Nic Towner and  John Voltz went to work with seven triples between them in Air Ballers' 71-47 win.

Air Ballers? Maybe On The Money would be a more suitable name!

Ever-improving Liam Madsen scored 15 for Wolves.

Taipans edged out Sharks 57-49 with big man Johnathon Drew dominant with 24 points and Sundiv Miro was best for Sharks with a 19-point haul.

Ravens recorded its first win by knocking off Tropics 42-24.

Centre James Caddy starred with 14 points for Raven and veterans' John Purcell and Dain Sheppard each scored 11.

Nick Frost was the only Tropic with double-digit figures of 12 points.

Hawks' Oscar Chungpradit's 22 points led his side to a 58-42 win against Kings.

The latter's Isaac Blackaby did all he could with a game-high 28 points.

Balleros joined Air Ballers as the other undefeated side and cruised to a 53-34 win against Meteors.

Chris's Wisenewski and Stark combined for 31 points for Balleros and Meteors' best was Angus Allison who shot 14 points.

WOMEN - Round 4

'Devilicious Red, Masters Of The Great Escape'

For the second successive game, reigning premiers Devilicious Red survived an almighty scare but came up trumps.

This time it was against their namesake Black team - 42-40.

'Red's Gabby Oram iced the game with two foul shots after Madison Cosgrove leveled it at 40-40.

Devilicious Red Kellie Green scored 13 points while 'Black's best was Mirrin Rashleigh who got 16.

In other games KJP Kixx notched up a 49-31 win against Turbo and Lions shaded Power Puffs 48-36.
