Losers, Topsiders shine in 8th Annual Island Jams

Teams The Losers and The Topsiders emerged victorious in their respective divisions in the second leg of the 8th Annual Island Jams basketball tournament held Saturday at the Ngerkesoaol court.

The Losers took the first place honors in the Senior High division while The Topsiders took the title in the Junior High category.

According to organizers, the weather last Saturday gave them a huge concern that they had to delay the start of the tournament. However, the event pushed through and they were amazed by the number of teams that came to participate.

In the tournament’s first leg held in Ngerchemai, The Immortals took the Senior High division while team On Fire secured the Junior High category.

The tournament will have its final leg on July 20 at the Medalaii basketball court. The event will follow the 3-on-3 format and will have the 9 to 13 years old and the 14 to 18 years old categories. The tournament will be played in a round robin format and each team will play equal amount of games.

Registration fee is pegged at $1 per player and registration forms must be filled up and submitted together with the registration fee either at the PNOC office. Brand new basketballs will be given away to the winners of the tournament.
