Galaxy Builders wins Rudimch Government/Business League
Team Galaxy Builders showed its eagerness to win the coveted title as they defeated Ministry of Education (MOE) I Spiders, 61-54 to officially close the 2009 Rudimch Government/Business basketball league played last November 13 at the Palau National gym.
Trailing 31-32 at the end of the first half, Galaxy Builders turned to Erwin Senadre who led the scoring chores as they outscored the Spiders with a19-7 output in the third canto to establish a 50-39 lead.
From there, Galaxy Builders held on to their lead as they spread the floor and prevent a possible Spiders comeback to win the game and close their best-of-three championship series with a 2-1 count.
Senadre led Galaxy Builders with 23 points as Yutaka Gibbons Jr. topscored for the Spiders with 22 on a losing cause.
During the awarding rites at Fish N’ Fins, Gibbons was named as the MVP in the regular season for the government division while Clint Madracheliub of Fish N’ Fins was named MVP for the business division. Bong Alambra, on the other hand, was named as the MVP for the Season Finals while Sinton Soalablai was given the coach of the year award.
GBL outgoing president Javis Pedro, Anthony Rudimch and GBL treasurer Edison Chokai awarded the trophies to the winners.
As follows are the winners for the 2009 Rudimch Government/Business basketball: Government Division – MOE I Spiders (champions), MOF Omsangel (2nd place), PNOC Mercury 300 (3rd place), Yutaka Gibbons Jr. (MVP); Business Division – Fish N’ Fins (champions), PRR Royals (2nd place), Galaxy Builders (3rd place), Clint Madracheliub (MVP); Season Finals – Galaxy Builders (champions), MOE I Spiders (2nd place), PRR Royals (3rd place), Bong Alambra (MVP) and Sinton Soalablai (coach of the year).
A total of 21 teams saw action in the league, which is sponsored by Rudimch Enterprises, is a tobacco, alcohol and drug free program.
