Floreat Athena welcome back Ante Kovacevic as the NPL Night Series holders seek to maintain their 100% start to this season’s competition.

Athena announced their former player as interim head coach this week and he takes charge for the Round Three fixture with ECU Joondalup on Saturday night.

Kovacevic helped Athena win the State League title in 2007 and was player-coach when they lifted the Night Series nine years ago. He has spent the past four years as Head of Football Operations at Hyundai A-League side Adelaide United.

Victory at E&D Litis Stadium will put Floreat within touching distance of the semi-finals with two rounds remaining.

The two other matches in Pool One are at Dalmatinac Park.

Hosts Cockburn City are chasing their first points against leaders Perth SC, who put nine past Rockingham City last week. Bayswater City, who have won one and lost one, are next up for bottom club Rockingham.

Balcatta, the only side with two wins in Pool Two, meet Gwelup Croatia at Percy Doyle Reserve. This follows the match between Sorrento and Armadale, two sides still to record a victory.

The third Pool Two fixture is at E&D Litis Stadium where second-place Inglewood United take on Perth Glory.

Meanwhile it’s Round Two of the State League Night Series on Saturday and Sunday, with double headers at Curtin University, Floreat Athena, Forrestfield United, Olympic Kingsway and Wanneroo City. Full fixtures below.

It is also the first round of the NPLWA - Women's Night Series. FULL PREVIEW AND FIXTURES HERE
