Rockingham City took a huge step towards securing another season in the  National Premier Leagues WA with a 2-1 win against Perth Glory at SafeRad Stadium.

Defenders Michael Farmer and Harry Collins gave the home side a 2-0 lead at half-time. And though substitute Liam Murray reduced the deficit after the break, Rockingham hung on.

Farmer grabbed his second in two weeks, scoring from a corner where he muscled his marker off the ball and buried his swivelling effort from close range.

Not to be outdone by his defensive partner, Collins blasted an effort from outside the penalty area that left the delighted the home faithful.

With the match slipping away, Glory brought on Murray and Gomo Dukuley in the second half as they tried to break down a deep lying City defence.

City looked resolute with Mitch Firth and Farmer marshalling the defence but Glory grabbed a lifeline when Murray’s long-range effort took a wicked deflection and looped over Cyril Sharrock in goal.

Glory pushed for an equaliser but Rockingham stood firm and are now one win away for securing safety.
