Inglewood United put on a spirited performance to earn a 2-2 draw against Sorrento at the Perth Plasterboard Centre in Saturday’s NPL WA clash.

Both teams are pushng strongly for a top-four finish and there was little to choose between them all afternoon.

Sorrento twice took the lead through Cameron Teece and former Inglewood player Shaun Kilkelly, but were twice pegged back by the home side.

The first half was a largely tame affair with the sides cancelling each other out before Teece scored his 11th of the season with a terrific driven effort from outside the area to put Sorrento ahead.

The lead lasted less than a minute with David Cyrus capitalising on a mix-up involving Sorrento keeper James Morgan to ghost in at the far post and volley home a free-kick.

The game opened up in the second half as both sides pushed for the lead but it was Sorrento who again put their noses in front.

This time the scorer was Kilkelly, who had returned from suspension to volley home from a corner.

With 15 minutes left Sorrento dropped deep and looked set to grab all three points but were caught out when substitute Steve Sokol latched on to Jason Berrera’s long ball and rounded Morgan to tap into an empty net.

The result sees both sides a share a piece of the spoils in what is proving to be a congested race for the top four.

Star player: Shaun Killkelly (Sorrento)
