Forrestfield ready to fight fire with fire

Report by Edward Nixon

Forrestfield United coach Rod Banjac promises his side will leave nothing in the tank when they face high-flying Perth SC in the National Premier Leagues WA on Saturday afternoon.

Buoyed by a 4-0 win over Balcatta last time out, United will again be looking to go on the attack against the second-placed Sky Blues at Dorrien Gardens.

“We respect the quality Perth have in their squad but we’re not intimidated by anyone and we’ll go into this game trying to get something out of it,” Banjac said.

“We are going in there to pick up the three points.”

Banjac knows his players will have to be on top form if they are to beat a Perth side who sit behind leaders Bayswater City only on goal difference going into this Round Six clash.

"Perth will be a fantastic indicator of where we are at this point in time,” he said.

Last year’s beaten grand finalists, Perth have made a solid start to 2018 – recovering from a disappointing opening-round loss to Perth Glory to reel off four straight wins, including last Saturday’s 3-0 defeat of Subiaco.

“We’ll be looking for another good performance and to keep our consistency going,” coach Ramon Falzon said.

“For a team that just got promoted, Forrestfield play a good style of football and the fact they have seven points in their first five games shows they have the quality to upset more established teams.”

Forrestfield are expected to field a full-strength side, while Frank Furfaro remains sidelined for Perth.

Elsewhere in the 3pm kick-offs, unbeaten ECU Joondalup entertain struggling Stirling Lions, while Bayswater City will look to move on from their first defeat of the season when they host Armadale.

Balcatta will be eyeing their maiden win of the season against Subiaco, Sorrento are out to keep pace with the top two against Inglewood, while bottom-of-the-table Joondalup United face a stiff task as they search for their first points against a Cockburn City team on a high from their victory over Bayswater.

In the later match on Saturday, Floreat Athena meet third-placed Perth Glory at 5pm.
