Inglewood United ended Sorrento’s unbeaten streak with a 4-2 win at Percy Doyle Reserve on Saturday.

Kenny Keogh put in a man-of-the match performance, bagging a second half brace.

Inglewood assistant coach Saul Contera said he was happy with how everyone performed coming off of last week’s loss to Stirling Lions.

“We have an experienced side and have some physical boys to match their physical play-style,” he said.

“It was a team effort today, but Kenny Keogh worked tirelessly all day and his performance shows that.”

It was an unfortunate start for the home side with an own goal that opened the scoring in the 5th minute.

Sorrento had their best look in the 14th minute when a smart pass from Todd Harnwell found Sean Canham in the box, however, Inglewood keeper Alex Dunn made a great save to keep them scoreless.

Only minutes later another chip pass from Harnwell fell into the box and found the head of Jordan Dodd who sent the ball barely above the crossbar and missing another chance.

Inglewood’s Calum O'Connell scored in the 19th minute to make it 2-0 before the break.

Keogh had an incredible second half performance, outpacing Sorrento defenders on several occasions.

It wasn’t until the 70th minute that Sorrento’s young gun Jordan Brown put his team on the board.

Billy Quinncroft doubled their score in the 90th minute after picking up the scraps on Dunn’s effort to save but it was a little-to-late for the home side.

Inglewood now gear up to take on Armadale at home while Sorrento will clash with Stirling Lions next week, also at home.
