Naven takes over at Perth SC

Football West News

Former Perth Glory captain Gareth Naven has been appointed coach of Perth SC for 2016 after the Board of Management opted not to extend Taki Nicolaidis’ tenure.

Nicolaidis spent four years at Perth and helped restore the team to a position of prominence in the PS4 NPLWA.

President Gary Marocchi praised Nicolaidis for his service and commitment to the club.

"Taki took over the league job at Perth SC in very difficult circumstances, and brought our club back to where it belongs, as one of the leaders of WA football, after some very dark days,” Marocchi said.

“He is an outstanding individual and leaves Perth SC in a much improved position than when he first became the league coach, and for that, the club is truly grateful.”

Marocchi said the Board believed Naven was the best person for the position.

“Gareth is a highly qualified coach, a legend of our club and WA football, and we are delighted he has agreed to come back home to Perth SC,” Marocchi said.
