Former Sorrento and Western Knights coach Paul Price has taken the reins at Armadale following Peter Lord’s interim period.

Price, who was an interested observer at Armadale’s goalless draw with Subiaco last weekend, will be in charge when the Reds take on ECU Joondalup at Joondalup Football Stadium on Saturday.

Lord took on the job in an interim capacity after Lee Bamber’s early-season departure and will now focus on playing. Price will be assisted by Tony Castiello.

The new coaching team has taken on the task of turning around last-placed Armadale’s fortunes. The draw against Subiaco earned the Reds their only point of the season, leaving them three points adrift of 11th-placed Perth Glory, who take on Perth SC at Dorrien Gardens on Saturday.

Subiaco, who are also on four points, host rampant Stirling Lions, who thrashed Cockburn City last week.

Floreat Athena, who trail league-leading Bayswater City on goal difference, take on an Inglewood United side aiming to get their season back on track.

Inglewood’s Rikki Smith is confident United can match it with any side in the competition, despite a start that has left them in eighth place.

Bayswater City’s unbeaten streak will be put to the test on Saturday when Sorrento visit Frank Drago Reserve.

A draw against Inglewood in round two is all that separates Bayswater from a perfect record having beaten ECU Joondalup, Perth SC and Cockburn City before last weekend’s 2-1 victory against Balcatta.

But Sorrento, who conceded a late equaliser against Perth last week, will fancy their chances of upsetting the champions.

Fifth-placed Sorrento were on the cusp of victory against Perth before Andreas Theodosiades came off the bench to dramatic effect, blasting a 90th-minute equaliser.

Balcatta, who have also been on the receiving end against Perth this season, travel to Dalmatinac Park to take on a Cockburn City side missing some key players.

Euen Grant (knee) and Eamon McNelis (ankle) are out of action, but goalkeeper Curtis Aspden will return and striker Rory Patterson is back in contention after suspension.
