Floreat aim for top on ANZAC Day

Floreat Athena will be aiming to go top of the table on Saturday when they take on Perth Glory in an ANZAC Day fixture at E&D Litis Stadium.
The re-scheduled round-one match presents coach Glen Grostate and his players an opportunity to extend to four matches their 100 percent record, while other teams take a break from league action.
Floreat go into the match trailing league-leading Bayswater by just a point.
After kicking off their season with a 4-1 win over Armadale, a youthful Glory side has been beaten by Stirling Lions and Subiaco.
Grostate said it was difficult to prepare for matches against Glory, who could call on players with A-League experience.
“We beat Glory 4-1 in one game and in the other they had (A-League striker) Jamie Maclaren and he scored a hat-trick and we lost 5-0,” Grostate said. “It’s really hard to know what to prepare for.”
Floreat decided to play an ANZAC Day fixture after a successful event last year.
President Stacy Pilkadaris said the club was keen to continue the tradition with the right support.
“Last year was hugely successful and we were very happy with the ceremony, the Last Post and the reading,” Pilkadaris said.
RSL members will be at the game and fallen soldiers will be acknowledged in several ways, including the raising and lowering of the Australian flag.
The match kicks off at 6pm.
