Summer football gets underway

The Football West National Premier Leagues WA and State League Night Series competitions kick-off on Friday, February 6, at venues across the metropolitan area.

While some teams will use the competition to tune up for the season, others will be out to claim an early prize.

Matches will be played as far south as Mandurah, north to Wanneroo and several venues in between.

Defending NPL WA Night Series champions Bayswater City kick-off their campaign against Stirling Lions at Macedonia Park where Balcatta and Subiaco will also clash.

In the State League night series, former Lions coach Doug Hesketh will kick-off his new role as boss of Mandurah City in a clash against southern rival South West Phoenix.

Hesketh has been joined at Mandurah by former Lions skipper Andy Brown, who will lead the Black and Whites in 2015.

“I always said one day I would return home, and now with Doug as coach this is a real chance to put Mandurah on the map," Brown said.
