Bayswater and Stirling into FFA Cup

Bayswater City and Stirling Lions have advanced to the Cool Ridge Cup final and earned their place in the national Westfield FFA Cup in the process.

They will join 20 other Member Federation clubs and the 10 Hyundai A-League sides, including Perth Glory, in the FFA Cup June 27 draw to be broadcast live on Fox Sports.

National Premier Leagues WA leaders Bayswater scored a convincing 4-0 Cool Ridge Cup semifinal win over Subiaco at the WA Athletics Stadium last night, and Stirling beat ECU Joondalup 3-1 at the ECU Sports Stadium.

Bayswater and Stirling will clash in the Cool Ridge Cup final at Macedonia Park on July 19, 10 days before the inaugural FFA Cup kicks off.

Two goals from David Micevski, one from the penalty spot, and another from his brother Daniel put Stirling on their way, although Joe Smith managed a stoppage-time consolation for ECU.

Trent Kay headed Bayswater in front in the first half but the favourites were met with stubborn resistance from Subiaco until a late flurry.

Brian Farrell struck with nine minutes to play before Declan Hargreaves capitalised on a goalkeeping error in the 89th minute and Kay headed his second of the match.
